Hi all,
Welcome to my blog on New Literacies for Internet Comprehension! My name is Nicole Deady and I am currently in the masters program of Reading- Language, Literacy and Culture at Bridgewater State University. I have never attempted a blog before so bear with me as I find my way as a new blogger!
I just finished my undergrad in Elementary Education with a double major in Studio Art at Bridgewater. I am currently working as a special education aide at my local elementary school with second and third grade students. I have a range of experience from working with first grade all the way up to seventh grade and everything in between. I've also dabbled in physical education, art, and special education.
Once I have completed my masters program I will be looking to have my own classroom, ideally in second or third grade. Until then, I will be trying new things and learning as much as I can along the way!
This blog will be updated with my thoughts on articles I've read from class and other educational material I've found to be interesting and helpful to my learning.
Hope you enjoy,
Nicole Deady
Interesting topic. I hope I learn something from you! Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole! I also graduated with Elementary Education in December. I'm glad you are working in Special Education because that will give you valuable experience when you get your own classroom! I also haven't blogged before and still getting used to it. I'm excited to see what you write!
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing that you have been able to work with and experience students from so many different grade levels and in so many different settings. That experience will definitely be so helpful to have when you become a classroom teacher! It is always helpful to have special education background as well as there is so much inclusion these days. I am looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the readings from class!

Hi Nicole,
ReplyDeleteI worked as a special needs educational assistant my first few years out of college as well. I worked with grades 1-5. This job was such a great way for me to get my foot in the door and I was fortunate enough to be offered a position teaching fourth grade at the school I was working at when there was an open position. Working as an educational assistant gave me much-needed experience in the classroom and I was able to observe a lot of great veteran teachers and learn classroom management strategies. Being an educational assistant prepared me so well for being a classroom teacher. This experience and knowledge will be so valuable in your career. ~Megan Marquit
